Followers of Atkins can relax – CARB is short for the California Air Resources Board, and it’s celebrating its new headquarters with an Open House. Touted as one of the most advanced vehicle emissions testing and air quality research sites in the world, the headquarters houses 400 employees and combines five existing CARB facilities previously spread across Southern California into one location. Riverside Author Susan Straight at the Riverside Main Library

Acclaimed Riverside author Susan Straight will read from her new novel, Mecca¸ at an event sponsored by the Friends of the Riverside Public Library on Saturday. Love Has No Limits Foster Care Event

Time:  10:00 a.m.–12:00 noon

Location: The Grove Community Church

Cost: Free

Learn about fostering or adopting a child, ask questions about the foster care process, and hear the experiences of other foster families. Organizations including Voices for Children, For the Children and others will discuss volunteer opportunities and other ways to help. Refreshments will be served. Register here.

Murder on the Orient Express

A man lies dead behind a locked door with a dozen stab wounds in his chest, but Hercule Poirot is on the case at the Riverside Community Players’ production of “Murder on the Orient Express.” Ken Ludwig’s adaption of the classic Agatha Christie tale of a mysterious murder on a luxurious train full of mysterious people runs through May 29.

Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul Mexico City Livestream Tour

This free virtual tour of artist Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul (Blue House) in Mexico City, now a museum dedicated to her life and work, will be live-streamed for participants. The museum is one of the most popular in Mexico City, housing a collection of artwork by Kahlo, her husband artist Diego Rivera, and others along with the couple’s collection of Mexican folk art, pre-Hispanic artifacts, photographs, memorabilia, personal items, and more.
