As the song goes, Christmas time is here! Bring your holiday spirit to Riverside’s monthly ArtsWalk, the ongoing Holiday Market Extravaganza, or catch a holiday concert or two this weekend.

The Riverside Artswalk is a monthly community event that celebrates the diversity of arts and culture in Riverside and the Inland Empire. Visit over 22 downtown locations, including museums, galleries and studios, presenting an eclectic mix of visual and performing arts. 

Holiday Market Extravaganza

Time: 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Cost: Entry is free; $5 games and rides, or $25 unlimited all day wristband 

As we welcome back the Festival of Lights for their 30th anniversary we are bringing back the fun and holiday spirit to Riverside with a Century Wheel, Carousel and other activities.

CBU production of “Joyful Noise”

The Riverside County NAACP Youth Council and Empower You Edutainment present a poignant and breathtaking drama by local playwright, Nia Sharron Campbell. The Other Side follows the interracial friendship of two best friends who are as close and devoted as sisters. When a devastating act of violence in their community directly affects them both, a rift forms in their friendship and racial tensions surge in their town

La Sierra University – 75th Candlelight Concert

La Sierra University continues it’s much-loved holiday tradition with the 75th Candlelight Concert performance. This year’s event will feature a musical extravaganza of works by the university’s orchestra, choir, symphonic band and other groups and includes the premiere of a new work titled Brilla, Brilla!! (Shine, Shine!!) by music student and upcoming composer Ernesto Herrera Miranda.

Nights with the Museum: “Rarest of the Rare – Hunting California’s Endemic Wildlife with Camera”

The Museum of Riverside welcomes Ivan Parr, Western Section of the Wildlife Society, BioMaAS. Join Ivan, a wildlife biologist and professional photographer will speak on his quest to record non-charismatic but incredibly rare species found only in California, with stories of scientific success and comedic failure along the way.

Arlington Library Writing Boxes with young author Lea Kang 

Time: 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Meet local youth Lea Kang, author of “The Forgotten Fairy,” at Arlington Library’s Writing Boxes program. Lea will discuss her book and writing process. Lea is a Chemawa Middle School student from Riverside who loves reading and has since found that writing allows her to express herself. In writing her first book, “The Forgotten Fairy,” Lea hadn’t expected to become a full-blown author at 8 years old, but thanks to the encouragement of friends and family, she’s grateful now for the achievement that’s since been made. 

Paint & Sip: Snowy Night

Join an in-person painting class and create your own version of Snowy Night with The Paint Sesh. The Paint Sesh instructor/entertainer will guide you through approx. 1.5 – 2 hours of lively creativity and laughs, with no experience needed to have a good time. Ages 21+.

Join the Old Riverside Foundation for a casual holiday open house at the Weber House. The whole family is welcome: tours will be free (and will include our new courtyard entry area). There will  be mulled wine, light snacks, 1930s holiday music, and more! Bring two cans of food for a canned food drive to benefit Feeding America Inland Empire. 

Las Posadas de Riverside

The City of Riverside invites guests to join in the fun for Las Posadas de Riverside – a holiday celebration taking place on the west end of Riverside. This FREE community event will feature various fun children activities, warm holiday drinks, treats, piñatas, resource booths and traditional singing/ procession.

Riverside Unified School District: Empty Bowls

Time: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Location:  Riverside Art Museum, 3425 Mission Inn Ave.
Cost: $15 

Enjoy a hot meal with a handmade artisan bowl for a donation of $15. This charity event features performances, a silent auction and live demonstrations. Proceeds benefit the Feeding America Food Bank of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.
