California Baptist University partnered with Riverside architectural firm Ruhnau Clarke for “Careers By Design.” The Architecture Month event connected students in the architecture, graphic, and interior design programs with working professionals in those fields.

Question and answer sessions held on campus and student tours of the Ruhnau Clarke studios in Downtown Riverside gave prospective architects and designers a complete preview of what the day-to-day for professionals looks like, as well as answers to student questions.

Ruhnau Clarke has served Southern California for over 70 years. The firm specializes in large public projects, with a particular emphasis on schools. Recent local projects include the upgrades to Arlington High School and Convention Square. Ten former CBU students are currently employed at Ruhnau Clarke.

CBU emphasizes strong relationships with community businesses and institutions. This is part of their commitment to graduating workplace-ready students across all fields of study.

“With employment for architects and designers projected to grow by 8% over the next decade, immersive opportunities like this inspire students to envision immediate career pathways upon graduation,” said Dirk Dallas, dean of CBU’s College of Architecture, Visual Arts & Design. “Real-world perspectives provided by industry professionals are key elements of our program.”

CBU is the only school on the West Coast offering an accredited five-year Masters in Architecture. Ruhnau Clarke realized the benefit of a strong working relationship with CBU. “We are proud to support future architects and help cultivate the next generation of design leaders,” said Roger Clarke, President and Principal-in-Charge of Ruhnau Clarke Architects. “National Architecture Month provides a perfect opportunity to engage with students and share our passion for creating spaces throughout California that positively impact the lives of those who occupy them.”
