Local coffee favorite launches new culinary venture two doors down from original location.
The Condron brand has built a loyal customer base in the Riverside coffee world. After a long process getting off the ground they will expand their presence on Sunnyside with a new venture just two doors down from their popular Midtown coffee shop. The Outpost brings the same commitment to quality and service that made their coffee shop a local favorite, to a pizza, salad and dessert restaurant.
Despite operating two distinct businesses on the same block, the Condron brand is a unified philosophy. "We don't really focus on marketing too much. We focus on culture. So it's about building a really friendly team and really high-quality products, and that seems to take care of a lot of it," owner Ryan Condron explains.
The new establishment features an Italian domed pizza oven and charming counter-serve seating. Thoughtful details like real plants, including a floor-to-ceiling ficus, maintain the elegant but austere aesthetic the Condron brand has become known for. Beer and wine offerings add to the appeal.
Owner Ryan Condron explains their focused menu approach: "We'll have a chicken parm sandwich, that's the only outlier. We'll have a couple calzones, an avocado pizza, and that's on our lunch menu. Other than that, the main menu is five salads, six desserts, and six pizzas."
This approach has certainly worked for Condron Coffee, which has built a loyal following through word of mouth and consistently excellent products rather than flashy promotions. The minimalist charm and attention to quality that defines the coffee shop are clearly visible in the new Outpost as well.
It took about two years for the Outpost to get through the planning, permitting, and construction phases. They are still working on hiring staff and tightening up a few things around the shop before they open but it looks like they will be ready to go, no problem.
"It’s super exciting, it's been a long process but we are finally opening!" says Jana Taina, manager of the Outpost.
For locals who appreciate the original Condron experience, the Outpost offers a chance to enjoy the same commitment to excellence in an expanded setting with an entirely new menu.
More information: The Outpost, located at 3692 Sunnyside Dr., opens April 4 and will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
