Riverside authors! Downtowne Bookstore is hosting a Scary Short Stories Contest for all ages this October! Submissions are open now and will close on October 20. Semi-finalists will be announced on October 25. The final winners will be announced on October 27th. The competition is divided into age groups: 5-8, 9-12, 13-17, and 18+. It’s a fantastic opportunity for writers to share their creativity and engage with Riverside’s literary community.

A free event on Oct. 13 at the Civil Rights Institute in Southern California celebrates local female activists with a book launch, performances, and exhibits.
