Early Results Show Tight Races in Riverside School Board Elections

Editor’s note: This story will be updated as we receive results and more information regarding the election. Last update: 9:45 pm, November 5. The Riverside County Registrar of Voters released the first rounds of counted votes just before 8:30 pm on Tuesday, November 5.

Riverside Unified School District

Incumbent Dale Kinnear leads Karen Coleman for RUSD Trustee Area 2, holding a 7-point lead with 25% of the ballots counted:

  • Dale Kinnear: 4,111 votes
  • Karen Coleman: 3,525 votes

Amanda Vickers leads Chani Beeman in RUSD Trustee Area 2, winning 55% of the votes with 40% of the ballots counted:

  • Amanda Vickers: 3,218 votes
  • Chani Beeman 2,609 votes

Jesse Tweed has the lead in RUSD Trustee Area 4, holding 50% of votes counted in the first round of results posted:

  • Jesse Tweed: 4,068 votes
  • Marcelle Williams 3,024 votes
  • B. “Lynna” Gernertt 624 votes (dropped out of race in September)
  • Marla A. Matime 426 votes

Alvord Unified School District

Amanda Vasquez leads incumbent Lizeth Vega by 27 votes in the first round of votes released, which includes just 25% of the total votes to be counted:

  • Amanda A. Vasquez 700 votes
  • Lizeth Vega 673 votes

In the battle for Trustee Area 4, left vacant after Robert Schwandt died in June, Norma Berrellez holds a 15-point lead in the first round of votes released, which includes just 25% of the total votes to be counted:

  • Norma Berrellez 1,126 votes
  • Louie M. Perez 715 votes
  • Joel Ball 497 votes
  • Dustin Nguyen 413 votes

Measure L

Measure L, which would amend the City Charter to create a new

Office of Inspector General, appointed by the Mayor and City Council to serve as an auditor of the City’s spending and operations, received 63% of the first round of votes, with 14% of the ballots counted.

  • Yes: 28,974 votes
  • No: 17,279 votes

Measure CC

Measure CC, a $954,000,000 bond measure to fund the Riverside Community College District facility repairs and expansions, leads by 10 points in the first round of votes, with 28% of the ballots counted.

  • Yes: 80,695 votes
  • No 66,459 votes
