Neighbor of the Week: Michael J. Elderman
Each week, we will introduce a new neighbor. This is not a who's who list. These are regular Riversiders doing exceptional things.
Every Saturday in September, children in grades 2-5 can join a free, interactive program to learn about healthy eating and reducing food waste, with engaging lessons designed to promote lifelong positive habits.
The TGIF (The Goodness In Food) program, hosted by Feeding America Riverside (FARSB), is an initiative to teach children in grades 2-5 about healthy eating habits and reducing food waste. The program will run every Saturday in September and offers interactive lessons designed to engage young participants and encourage them to make positive food choices.
This free, 4-week program has received positive feedback in the past and is seen as a valuable tool in helping children develop lifelong healthy eating habits. One highlight of the program is a guest speaker from California Baptist University (CBU) who will lead an exciting lesson on nutrition during Week 3, emphasizing the importance of nutrition in leading a healthy life. The initiative is expected to have a lasting positive impact on the community by empowering children with the knowledge and skills needed for healthier living.
