We are familiar with the fireworks show on Mt. Rubidoux every Fourth of July. Our favorite mid-city mount is an incredible backdrop for fireworks, and people travel from all over to watch the sky (and sometimes the mountain) ablaze. The show on Mount Rubidoux isn’t the only thing going on for the holiday. We have compiled a guide for various activities surrounding Independence Day in Riverside.
Official Places to Watch
The City of Riverside has two official fireworks shows. Bonaminio Park on Tequesquite Avenue hosts the designated viewing event for Mount Rubidoux Fireworks. There will be food vendors and entertainment all day long. Show up early. It gets CROWDED.
The second event will be out west in La Sierra. For pre-firework festivities, there will also be food vendors, live entertainment, and a car show at La Sierra Park.
Other Places to Watch
- The Riverside Public Library hosts Red, Wine, and Blue. A fundraiser on the Terrace of the Main Library
- Front Row Fireworks at Evergreen Memorial Park on 14th Street is an annual favorite alternative to City events.
- One of the best views of the fireworks not in a park or a backyard is at Calvary Presbyterian.
Something Different
- June 29: Foster Army Animal Rescue is hosting a free microchip clinic to get your pets microchipped before the fireworks.
- July 3: Riverside Philharmonic performs Concert for the Heroes at Riverside National Cemetery.
- July 4: Help calm the animals at Mary S. Roberts Animal Shelter’s In a Calm Way event.
- July 6: Have a drink at the PICK Group Patriotic Pub Crawl.
Fireworks are illegal in the City of Riverside and this year the minimum fine has increased to $1500. You can find more information on the policy here.
