As a part of our mission to publish news helpful to Riversiders, The Raincross Gazette reached out to each candidate running for School Board in the Riverside Unified School District.
We presented each candidate with five questions chosen to allow them to highlight their personal values, decision-making frameworks, and specific vision for the district.

Trustee Area 2
Karen Coleman
Karen Coleman is a retired teacher who resides in Riverside. Coleman did not respond to our request to participate in The Raincross Gazette's 2024 Candidate Profile series.
Dale Kinnear
Dale Kinnear is the incumbent RUSD Member for Trustee Area 2 and the board's current President. Kinnear was previously principal at Riverside Poly and JW North High Schools.
Chani Beeman is a retired education professional whose career in public education spans working as Classified Staff, Adjunct Faculty, and District Administrator.
Amanda Vickers is the Program Director for the Department of Law and Public Policy at Fremont College. Vickers did not respond to our request to participate in The Raincross Gazette's 2024 Candidate Profile series.

Marla A. Matime
Marla Matime is Executive Director of the Cal Cities African American Caucus and President of the Center for Community Action and Environmental Justice.
Jesse Tweed is a pediatrician and current provisional RUSD School Board Trustee for Trustee Area 4, filling the seat vacated by the late Tom Hunt. Tweed did not respond to our request to participate in The Raincross Gazette's 2024 Candidate Profile series.
