In grades 9–12, students can perform their original poetry at the Excellence Through Equity Conference in Palm Springs. Selected poets will address the theme "If I Speak, Will You Listen?" and receive recognition for their talents.

Riverside students in grades 9–12 are invited to showcase their poetic talent at the upcoming Riverside County Office of Education, Excellence Through Equity Conference in Palm Springs. The event allows students to perform their original poetry centered around the theme, "If I Speak, Will You Listen?"

To enter, students must submit a written copy of their poem and a one-minute performance video. Selection will be based on the poem's quality, how well it aligns with the conference's overarching theme, "Breaking Barriers Takes ALL Of Us," and the student's confidence in public speaking.

Four students will be chosen to perform at the conference in September 2024. They will receive a trophy and complimentary one-day registration for themselves and a parent or guardian. This is a unique chance for young voices to be heard on a significant platform, making a difference through the power of words.

If you or someone you know is interested in submitting a poem for consideration, details and rules are available at the Riverside County Office of Education website. The deadline for poetry submission is September 1, 2024.
