Friday Gazette: February 21, 2025 Hello Riverside, and Happy Friday! Tomorrow is National Margarita Day. Whether you like your limey
Something different at the Riverside Community Players Theater.
This Saturday, February 22, The Riverside Community players give the actors a night off and lend the stage to Maurice 'Gold' Hunter and friends for an R&B, Soul, and Gospel show.
Maurice Hunter, a Gospel artist originally from Compton and currently residing in Riverside, has a unique melodic voice and a jazz-influenced musical style that makes his music exceptionally soulful. His sound blends contemporary gospel with elements of classic soul, often featuring rich harmonies and a prominent organ.
Maurice cites legendary artists like Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye as influences on his vocal delivery and appreciation for heartfelt lyrics. In 2010 and 2011, he performed at Disneyland's Gospel Celebration Concert. Hunter is not only a passionate singer but a phenomenal songwriter. Maurice's songs explore themes of faith, hope, and resilience. He is currently working on his Gospel album, "Come Walk With Me."
Maurice will perform classic and original Soul, Gospel, and R&B songs with a full band and backup singers.
The "theatre in the round" style stage at RCP should make for an intimate event. There are no bad seats in the house. This concert is part of the incredible schedule Riverside Community Players' have put together for their 100-year anniversary season.
