Monday Gazette: January 13, 2025

Hello Riverside, and Happy Monday!

Today is Korean-American Day, which celebrates the first arrival of Korean immigrants to America.

In April 2021, City Council approved an agreement with the Dosan Ahn Chang Ho Memorial Foundation of the Americas to explore the development of a Korean-American Cultural Center in Riverside. The center would celebrate the accomplishments of Dosan Ahn Chang Ho, who founded Pachappa Camp, home to 300 Koreans who worked in the Riverside citrus industry in 1905 before returning to Korea and becoming a celebrated leader in the Korean independence movement.

Today is a great day to spend a few minutes learning about Dosan Ahn Chang Ho. Stay up to date with the project, visit dosanusa.org.
