Hello Riverside, and Happy Monday! We're just over a week away from the election, and today, we are publishing our 2024 Candidate Profiles for candidates running for the Riverside Unified School District board.
For those of you looking for help making up your mind on Riverside-specific ballot issues, I am sorry that I failed to publish more about local Measures CC and L. If you have a specific question about either of those items, feel free to email me (justin@raincrossgazette.com), and I will do my best to answer your questions.
The Raincross Gazette interviewed four of the seven candidates running for the Riverside Unified School District board.
As a part of our mission to publish news helpful to Riversiders, The Raincross Gazette reached out to each candidate running for School Board in the Riverside Unified School District.
We presented each candidate with five questions chosen to allow them to highlight their personal values, decision-making frameworks, and specific vision for the district.
Each candidate had a week to answer the same questions. Their answers are presented for you as submitted and only edited for any spelling or grammar mistakes. Candidates are listed in alphabetical order by last name.

The city has enacted several ways to encourage community input for the upcoming General Plan and Climate Change Action Plan.
Riverside is updating its General Plan for 2025. A General Plan is a set of broad goals and guidelines offering a policy and spending framework. As state and federal laws and regulations change, they require adjustments to city plans in order to remain in compliance. While some of what goes into the General Plan may be determined above the city level, much of the expenditure and implementation happens here in Riverside. Riverside is asking for your help in determining what putting these goals into action might look like.
Future Fest was the first of many community engagement events designed to inform Riversiders what the General Plan and Climate Action and Adaptation Plan may include and ask for your input on parts of the plan that can be decided here, by the residents of the city.
