Neighbor of the Week: Diana Saenz

Each week, we will introduce a new neighbor. This is not a who's who list. These are regular Riversiders doing exceptional things.

Neighbor of the Week: Diana Saenz
Diana Saenz, owner of TruBliss Fitness. (Brenda Flowers)

Diana is the owner of TruBliss Fitness in Riverside, where she has created a welcoming space that empowers women on their fitness and wellness journeys. A passionate advocate for women’s health, she uses her gym as a hub for promoting physical and mental well-being, while also fostering a sense of community. Diana has been deeply involved with the PTA, serving in various roles at local schools, Riverside Council PTA, and 23rd District PTA, and continues to support students through scholarships for graduating seniors in the Riverside Unified School District. Beyond her business, she gives back generously by supporting local schools, first responders, veterans groups, and animal organizations. She also organizes fundraisers for breast cancer awareness and champions shopping small to uplift local businesses. Diana’s dedication to service and her inspiring leadership shine brightly in Riverside, where she and her husband are raising their three children in Woodcrest.

What does Riverside mean to you? Riverside is a city that’s constantly evolving. I love the direction we’re heading, especially with our new mayor. Seeing the beautiful murals around the city highlights how connected we are to our local cultures while staying true to Riverside's iconic history. Events like the Citrus Heritage Run and the Mission Inn Run showcase our city’s rich and beautiful history while celebrating its natural beauty.

What is your Mt. Rubidoux summit count (estimated)? Over 25 times!

What is your favorite restaurant outside of Downtown or Magnolia Center? Backstreet Café is my absolute favorite restaurant in Riverside!

What is the most beautiful building in Riverside? The downtown Riverside library. Its modern architecture, bright windows, and unique shape make it stunning.

What is your favorite Riverside small business? I have to go with my fitness studio, TRUBLISS Fitness, in Woodcrest. But there are so many amazing small businesses in Riverside. We have such an inclusive and diverse group of business owners that it’s hard to pick just one.

What is your favorite Riverside nonprofit organization? Girls on the Run is my favorite nonprofit. They’re incredible, helping students in Riverside Unified School District and surrounding areas build lifelong healthy habits. Their events bring the community together to support their mission, and I really admire what they do.

The Festival of Lights: Every year on opening night or maybe on a Tuesday? I’m partial to Tuesdays because of the smaller crowds, but opening night is always amazing. It’s incredible to see the community come together to celebrate.

What is your go-to sandwich in town? Backstreet Café’s The Schrader is my favorite! It’s not on the menu, but it’s worth asking for.

What is your idea of a perfect weekend day in Riverside? A perfect day would start with grabbing a coffee at Daily Brew and a cookie from the Riverside Cookie Shop. I’d head to Ryan Bonaminio Park, hike up Mount Rubidoux, and then grab a sandwich or salad with a smoothie. In the evening, I’d walk downtown at sunset and enjoy dinner at one of our local eateries, supporting small businesses all the way.

What is your favorite spot for a date night? Dwayne’s Steakhouse at the Mission Inn is a top choice. There’s something magical about valet parking, strolling through the historic grounds Frank Miller created, and enjoying the timeless charm of a classic steakhouse in the heart of downtown Riverside.

Do you call it the Galleria or Tyler Mall? Tyler Mall!

If you could put one message on a billboard on the 91, what would it be? I’d encourage the community to explore Riverside while enjoying the health benefits of walking outdoors. Staying active and spending time with family not only creates meaningful memories but also supports a healthier lifestyle, helping to address some of the major health challenges we face today.

Finally, let our readers know what you’re working on right now and how they can support your efforts—whether it’s a project, passion, or cause close to your heart! Support the future of Riverside students! The Riverside Council PTA’s Carol Rude Annual Scholarship Fund celebrates graduating RUSD seniors who excel academically and give back to the community. As the Awards and Scholarship Chair, I’m honored to help these students take the next step toward making a difference. Donations to the fund help us recognize and uplift the next generation of leaders. Every contribution counts—thank you for your support! 💙
