Raincross Master Chorale to Perform “Voices of the Future” Featuring College Scholarship Winners and Riverside Arts Academy Singers
The Raincross Master Chorale will be performing their spring concert on May 19, 2024, at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Riverside. The concert, titled “Voices of the Future,” will feature two college scholarship winners and 16 young singers from the Riverside Arts Academy.
The chorale is directed by Jonathan Osbrink and features a wide range of material, from a new work commissioned by the academy by composer Adam Karelin to pieces by Paul Simon and Morton Lauridsen, including “The Sound of Silence,” “Sure on this Shining Night,” and “Come Sunday,” among many others.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to enter a drawing to win gift baskets filled with themed prizes. To enter the drawing, audience members will register with their contact information.
A graduate of Cal State University , Jessica Orozco, is one of the two young singers who will take the stage during the concert. Orozco has won the Raincross Master Chorale scholarship for 2024 and plans to use her scholarship to teach high school choir.
Another of the awardees, Elyse Abad, is also a 2023 scholarship winner and has spent a year of study at Cal State University, Long Beach. Following her studies, Abad hopes to pursue a professional career as a musician.
“Young people are a universal representation of hope, and that is really what this piece is about,” said Karelin.
The Raincross Master Chorale is open by audition and is comprised of 45 voices. For more information about the concert and to purchase tickets, please visit the Raincross Master Chorale website.
