The Riverside County NAACP Youth Council and Empower You Edutainment present a poignant and breathtaking drama by local playwright, Nia Sharron Campbell. The Other Side follows the interracial friendship of two best friends who are as close and devoted as sisters. When a devastating act of violence in their community directly affects them both, a rift forms in their friendship and racial tensions surge in their town

La Sierra University continues it’s much-loved holiday tradition with the 75th Candlelight Concert performance. This year’s event will feature a musical extravaganza of works by the university’s orchestra, choir, symphonic band and other groups and includes the premiere of a new work titled Brilla, Brilla!! (Shine, Shine!!) by music student and upcoming composer Ernesto Herrera Miranda.

Meet local youth Lea Kang, author of “The Forgotten Fairy,” at Arlington Library’s Writing Boxes program. Lea will discuss her book and writing process. Lea is a Chemawa Middle School student from Riverside who loves reading and has since found that writing allows her to express herself. In writing her first book, “The Forgotten Fairy,” Lea hadn’t expected to become a full-blown author at 8 years old, but thanks to the encouragement of friends and family, she’s grateful now for the achievement that’s since been made.
