Riverside officials have announced a new advisory panel to help shape the city's future over the next two decades.

The General Plan Advisory Committee provides input, feedback, and representation of diverse points of view and experiences during the city's General Plan update process.

"The GPAC is inclusive of all types and levels of expertise and will be critical to make the project team aware of community concerns, values, and priorities," officials with the city said in a press release. "Those who join the GPAC will bring unique perspectives to the table and serve as an ambassador between the community and this once-in-a-generation project. Whether they're from healthcare, education, social justice, or any community-focused organization, their voice is essential in guiding our city's growth."

GPAC members will help guide the city's land use decisions during the update process and help inform future development decisions over the next two decades.

The city is also creating a Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP) to guide its response to a changing climate and its efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

"The CAAP is a strategic roadmap to guide the City of Riverside in preparing to adapt to a changing climate and creating meaningful reductions in greenhouse gas emissions," officials said. "Together, and with critical input from the entire Riverside community along the way, the GPU and CAAP will define the future of our city for the coming decades."
