The New School Year Brings Excitement, Community Benefit and New Milestones.
The start of the 2024-25 school year at California Baptist University brings anticipation and renewed energy. With new programs and a full calendar of events, the return of college life is set to benefit not only students but the entire Riverside community.
"Having students back on campus brings a surge of energy that spreads throughout the community," said Dr. Charles D. Sands, provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs. "CBU continues to grow, innovate, and provide opportunities for the community to join us on campus and learn about what makes CBU such a special place."
Continued Growth and Introduction of New Programs
CBU offers exceptional academic programs, active campus life, and a supportive, Christ-centered community. The Wall Street Journal ranked the university No. 5 in the nation for the best student experience based on on-campus facilities, community and social life, and diversity. Year over year, CBU ranks in the top 30 in the U.S. News & World Report rankings for innovation, social mobility, and best college for veterans.
With more than 100 undergraduate programs from engineering to education, CBU also begins this school year by introducing several new undergraduate majors, including a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast and Digital Media Production and a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Human Services. CBU's undergraduate programs are complemented by a full series of master's and doctoral programs. Classes are offered both in-person and online, accommodating the lifestyle needs of any student.
Riverside Community Gains from CBU's Return
While CBU welcomes students from 38 states and 59 countries back to school, the Riverside community will again benefit from the University's presence.
The return of CBU's Division 1 athletics is one of the most highly anticipated aspects of each school year. Riverside residents are invited to cheer on the fall sports of volleyball, soccer, water polo, and golf as they take on schools that include UCLA, San Diego, Cal State Northridge, and more. And people are already marking their calendars for the much-anticipated return of CBU basketball in the Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler Events Center this November.
For theater fans, the Shelby and Ferne Collinsworth School of Performing Arts aims to impress with a full season of award-winning productions. This fall, the school performs "The Importance of Being Earnest" and "Sunday in the Park with George." In the spring, "The Book of Will" and the musical "Little Women" are on the itinerary. And the community won't want to miss the incredible production of A CBU Christmas this December. Season tickets for all five performances are available now: $60 for adults and $50 for children.
