High School Track and Field and Middle School Soccer put student-athletes to the test in all-day events.
Every Friday, we bring you a quick rundown of Riversiders achieving athletic excellence and a guide to matches and meets around the city. These events provide affordable, family-friendly entertainment and foster civic pride and community connections. See you in the bleachers.
Since 1970, Riverside High School students have competed in the Raincross Tradition-Riverside City Track and Field Championships. Hundreds of young men and women from seventeen local public and private schools will compete in a full schedule of over thirty events. This year’s competition will be held on Saturday, April 6, at ML King High School at 8:30 a.m. The event is $5 for general admission, $2 for students with ASB cards, and free for kids under 12.
They start them young these days. Saturday, April 6, is the RUSD 7th Grade Middle School interscholastic tournament. Both boys and girls will be competing at Arlington High School. The first matches start at 7:30 a.m. and last until around 6 p.m. With the popularity of club soccer, many of these kids compete outside of school at a very high level. This tournament is an excellent way for the students to show their talents and prepare for high school competition. The tournament is free, open to the public, and always well-attended.
