Every Friday, we bring you a quick rundown of Riversiders achieving athletic excellence and a guide to sporting events around the city. These events provide affordable, family-friendly entertainment and foster civic pride and community connections. See you in the bleachers.

CBU has a reputation for scheduling challenging non-conference matches, and the December 11 trip to San Diego to play SDSU may be one of the toughest games in Lancer Basketball history. The Aztecs are perennial NCAA Tournament attendees and were second-place finishers in 2023. Lancers travel well, and I’m sure plenty of CBU fans will make the drive to SDSU. You can watch most of the regular season CBU basketball games on ESPN Plus, and starting a $99 CBU Basketball season ticket is one of the best entertainment values around.

CSD Riverside Football has been receiving some well-deserved attention lately. The Cubs started their State Championship defense with a convincing 68-28 win. Senior Darius Zarembka had a standout night with four touchdowns on 166 all-purpose yards. The two-way player also contributed two interceptions and a fumble recovery. Congrats to Darius and the Cubs. Riverside is rooting for another championship season on Arlington Avenue.
