Neighbor of the Week: Michael J. Elderman
Each week, we will introduce a new neighbor. This is not a who's who list. These are regular Riversiders doing exceptional things.
A late comeback victory in the semifinal match against Utah Valley sent them into the championship against long-time foes GCU.
The Lancers finished their regular season with two losses and a tie. That didn’t stop them from tearing through the first rounds of the WAC Tournament, including a three-goal comeback against number-one seed Utah Valley and landing a Finals bid against long-time rivals Grand Canyon University. CBU and GCU played to a scoreless draw on October 26, and I’m sure the young women are lacing up their shooting boots to try and get the ball in the back of the net. You can find the WAC Tournament Finals on ESPN+. November 9, 12 pm.
The annual Crosstown Showdown has favored CBU in four of the last five seasons. These two Riverside Division One sports programs have continually given us nationally competitive squads across many sports, and the competitive relationship between the two schools is serious business. This year, the Men’s Basketball game will be on Tuesday, November 12, at CBU in the Fowler Center. This event tends to get wild, and I’m sure it will be no different this season. There are plenty of tickets available, beginning at $8 for adults.
Friday, November 8. All games at 7 pm
King and Ramona are in the same playoff bracket. If both win on Friday, they will play each other in the quarterfinal game next weekend.
