Underdog California Baptist University Lancers set to challenge the UCLA Bruins in their NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament debut Saturday night, marking a first-time matchup with high stakes and local talent in the spotlight.
Lancers go to Westwood as underdogs looking to slay the giant UCLA Bruins on Saturday Night in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. Neither team has won an NCAA title, but the Bruins have been a fixture in the competition. The Lancers will be playing in the tournament for the first time. This will also be the first time the two teams will face each other.
UCLA goes in as the second seed in the region, and the Lancers are ranked fifteenth. The Bruins are heavy favorites, but CBU has some amazing talent led by Chloe Webb, who earned the WAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player Award in the Lancers’ run to win the conference’s only bid to advance. If you want to make the trip to Pauley Pavillion, tickets are available for the game. You can also watch it on ESPN on Saturday at 6 p.m.
