Sports Shorts: NCAA Softball Starts This Weekend

NCAA Softball

UCR and CBU softball teams are gearing up for a packed first week of competition. The Highlanders face seven games in five days, including a Saturday doubleheader against West Point. Tickets can be found here. 

Across town, the Lancers have five games in three days. CBU's schedule features a Friday afternoon clash with the nation's No. 2 ranked Oklahoma Sooners and a Sunday Noon matchup against Army. The Lancers and the Highlanders play each other on Wednesday, February 12, in a prime-time 6 p.m. matchup. Tickets for the Army and crosstown rivalry game can be found here.

CIF Girls Water Polo Playoffs

Congratulations to Poly and Norte Vista on their first-round victories! Poly will face Buena in Ventura, and Norte Vista will face Heritage in Menifee. Good luck to both teams!

Here's a rundown of all the Riverside school's first-round matches.

• Poly defeated Canyon (Anaheim) 10-9
• Arlington lost to Notre Dame Sherman Oaks 10-8
• Ramona lost to Thousand Oaks 10-3
• Norte Vista defeated Jordan 16-4
• Notre Dame lost to Los Amigos 11-6
• North lost to Ocean View 8-6
• La Sierra lost to Rowland 8-12

CIF Soccer

The regular season is finished. The Arlington/Poly rivalry was all Lions this year. Both teams have made post-season playoffs. You can look forward to a complete rundown of Riverside schools next week after the brackets are set on Feb 8.
