The Week at City Hall, September 26

The Housing and Homelessness committee gives an update on their action plan to help individuals experiencing homelessness and the RPU Board considers the sale of land for the RTRP. There will not be a City Hall Council meeting this week.

Monday, September 26

Housing and Homelessness Committee at 3:30 p.m.

Line 2- Homelessness Action Plan Update

Individuals experiencing homelessness and those who have experienced it met with the Office of Homeless Solutions on September 1st. They discussed the Homelessness Action Plan, and the participants shared the struggles they have faced such as utilizing housing vouchers, the need for compassionate field engagements, availability of clean drinking water and the importance of frequent safety checks at non-congregate shelters. They would like to continue meeting with the city to share their experiences around the gaps and successes they find.

Line 12- Land Sale for RTRP

The Board will discuss a recommendation that City Council approve the sale of 8.76 excess acres, located near the City’s water treatment plant, to Southern California Edison to be used for the Riverside Transmission Reliability Project, for approximately $5,215,000.

Line 16- Energy, Climate, and Drought Resiliency Provisions of Inflation Reduction Act of 2022

The RPU General Manager will review the Energy, Climate, and Drought Resiliency Provisions of Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 and the potential impact and tax credits on Riverside and Riverside residents regarding: Consumer Energy Costs; American Energy Security and Domestic Manufacturing; Decarbonize the Economy; Invest in Communities and Environmental Justice; Farmers, Forestland Owners and Resilient Rural Communities; and Drought Response and Preparedness.

Planning Commission at 9:00 a.m.

Line 3- Planning Case for West La Cadena Dr.

The Commission will review a proposal by Overland Development Company to consider project plans for a mixed-used development consisting of 115 multi-family units and 250 square feet of commercial retail space. The 2.84-acre project site consists of two contiguous vacant parcels located at 1535 West La Cadena Drive near the 215 and 60 interchange.
