The council will consider approving a Professional Services Agreement with Economic and Planning Systems Inc., of Sacramento. Which will analyze the economic and fiscal impact of the University of California Riverside campus on the surrounding neighborhoods and the overall city. This will take place over the course of a one-year term with the option to extend for one additional six-month term and an authorized contingency of 10% bringing the total amount of $220,000.
The council will decide on approving protective firefighter safety clothing from Allstar Equipment, the only locally approved distributor of the LION brand turn-outs. The cost will amount to $133,000 and will be funded from the Fire Operations, Clothing/Linen/Safety Supplies account.
The Lease and Crop agreement between Gless Ranch and the City expired June 30, 2022. The council will decide on approving the First Amendment to the Crop Maintenance Agreement which will continue to allow the “New Groves” to be maintained by Gless Ranch for 50% of the net proceeds.
Riverside City Police department is requesting that the city council approve funds in the amount of $120,000 for “Fully Present” Engagement Training, hosted by BEK Impact Corporation. The training is tailored to reach the African American community and has been added to the training schedule for all sworn personnel of the city’s police department.
Staff asks that the council waive the formal bidding requirements and declare the storm drain repairs on Magnolia Avenue at the intersections of Elmwood Court, Banding Avenue and Linwood Place of urgent need. Staff estimates the drains to be over 100 years old and found evidence of broken pipes causing concern about possible voids in the surrounding underground areas.
